Imagine standing in front of the corner building at Silbersackstrasse 3 on a warm summer evening: brick, weathered façade, still wafting with the scent of forgotten nights.
It’s hard to believe that behind these walls once beat the heart of the infamous G M B H – the “pimping company” that dominated the neighborhood like a shiny, dangerous start-up in the early 1980s. Here, on the second floor of their “headquarters”, GerdGlissmann, Micha“schöner Mischa” Luchting, Walter “Beatle” Vogeler and Harry“der Hundertjährige” Voerthmann forged their deals, distributed territories and counted five-figure sales night after night.
Silbersackstrasse became a catwalk for their power, the house a stage on which charm and brutality kissed.

Every brick here vibrated to the beat of the Reeperbahn: Rolls-Royces braked at the curb, champagne corks popped, while inside, on thick leather sofas, agreements were sealed with a handshake according to the code of honor. And yet there was a strange romanticism about it all – this shimmering between the forbidden and the promising, between the harbor breeze and the perfume that still wafts around St. Pauli today.
The house at Silbersackstraße 3 was their beacon: anyone climbing the stairs smelled the sweet mixture of cigar smoke and heavy perfume – and somewhere in the background heard the melody of “Stand by Me” seeping out of a portable cassette deck.
But the sad chapters have also left their mark here.
When the cocaine boom came, the Nutella gang put pressure on the group and the police became more and more cautious, the house of cards collapsed: Gunshots echoed through the night, the management team disintegrated – and Silbersackstrasse 3 went from being the headquarters of the “Luden-GmbH” to a silent witness to missed dreams.
Fast forward to the year 2025: stylish apartments now reside behind the same windows; Airbnb guests post selfies and rave about the “perfect location between the harbor and the Schanze”.
The fact that her vacation apartment was once the control center of a red-light empire is at most only mentioned in the footnotes of a true-crime documentary.
What remains? A house that has learned to carry every chapter – from the glitter of the Excalibur convertible era to the soft dawn of today’s city trips.
Perhaps the walls still whisper names like “Beatle” or “Karate-Tommy” at night. Perhaps the stairwell remembers the clinking of heavy gold chains. Either way, you can feel the history that was once written here in every corner of the house.
